"Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me;
for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls." Matthew 11:29
Our Mission
A Place of Welcome for Adults to Examine and Deepen Their Spiritual Walk
Grounded in scripture and in obedience to Christ, we offer opportunities for adults to examine and develop their Christian faith and wrestle with the question, “How do I live out my faith in every day life?”
Our Ministries
The Adult Spiritual Formation Committee at St. Nick's offers a variety of adult classes and prayer groups--we hope you will find one or more that meets your needs. And if you have ideas for classes or groups not listed here, please contact Charlotte Rogers or The Rev. Nan Hildebrand.
Weekly Adult Forum: The Bible and the Washington Post Come for coffee, donuts and discussion of how faith intersects with current events. Sundays at Seneca Academy at 10:00 a.m. (after the 9:00 a.m. service). No need to sign up, just come!
Rector's Book Review Group(s) The Death & Resurrection of Christianity: Rediscovering the Love at the Heart of the Truth Now that the rector has started writing his long-awaited book, he is forming two groups to review, comment, and discuss chapters as they emerge. A small group will meet at the church office once-a-month for face-to-face discussion from which discussion questions and suggestion for parish applications will be developed for the book. A larger virtual group will review and comment online via the "blog" the rector has developed for the site: curb-your-dogma.blogspot.com. Contact: The Rev. Ken Howard.
Book Study Groups Book study groups are held on a regular basis through the church year, generally meeting weekly for 6-8 weeks. Groups generally meet in the evenings at a members home. Snacks or dessert are often available, ocassionally a light meal. Past books have ranged from the deeply spiritual to popular fiction. Books are chosen for study by the Adult Spiritual Formation Committee, though they are always looking for suggestions. Contact: Charlotte Rogers.
