The Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church USA, in cooperation with the National Religious Campaign Against Torture and Rabbis for Human Rights, has recognized June as Torture Awareness Month. The purpose of Torture Awareness Month is to raise peoples awareness of torture as a moral issue, and to engage people in praying and working for an end to turture throughout the world.
In support of Torture Awareness Month, we at St. Nicholas Church have added prayers for an end to torture to our Sunday morning prayers, and will soon be displaying a banner the the words "Respect the Image of God: Stop Torture Now" (see image below).

We are also providing links to suggested prayers about torture provided by the National Religious Campaign Against Turture (click here).
