St. Nicholas Church is situated on a beautiful 13 acre parcel of land that in earlier days had been part of a much larger parcel that made up the Ward family farm. While we have plans to build three additional sections to complete our full church building, we hope to maintain much of the green space that is there (click here for more about our “eco-friendly” plans).
Our capital campaign for the first phase of our church building was entitling “A Home for Us to Share.” We are sharing our outdoor space with the community around us even before the full church building is completed. We are planting forested areas on the grounds. We have built a Memorial Garden for cyclists and to stop and refresh themselves, as well as a labyrinth, a stations of the cross, a stations of the resurrections, and an interfaith meditation space, all open to the community. Current plans also anticipate a picnic area, a gazebo stage, community gardening, and more.
We completed the first phase of our construction several years ago: a multipurpose ministry center which includes flexible worship-fellowship-education space.
Long term plans include adding two additional wings, including a 349-seat worship/performance space, a fellowship hall with office space, and a columbarium-memorial garden. The design incorporates elements of old and new, traditional and non-traditional, and is build around a courtyard in a manner that will give an “arms wide open” appearance.
Short-term plans include the addition of modular classrooms for our rapidly increasing population of children and youth.
